How Is Renuvion® Performed?
The Renuvion® procedure utilizes a cold plasma made up of a proprietary combination of helium gas and radiofrequency (RF) energy. When delivered beneath the skin, this plasma stimulates tissue contraction (skin tightening) and cell regeneration.
This treatment may be used as a less invasive alternative to plastic surgery (for qualifying patients) as it allows surgeons to deliver precise, controlled tightening for small or large areas, giving patients natural results.
Renuvion® is a minimally invasive treatment that is performed under a local anesthetic. A small incision is made in the targeted area to insert the device underneath the skin (in direct contact with the connective tissue). Once the device is securely in place, the doctor will release the helium gas and radiofrequency (RF) energy, creating a precise energy stream, called plasma.
The plasma warms the tissues, which causes the tissues to contract and collagen production to increase. This contraction causes the skin to appear tighter and smoother.
Should I Combine Renuvion® With Liposuction?
While some patients choose to undergo Renuvion® as a standalone treatment to tighten skin, others choose to combine it with liposuction. Renuvion® does not address excess fat, and patients with localized fatty deposits and loose skin often benefit from a combination of the two treatments.
What Is Renuvion® Recovery Like?
Recovery from Renuvion® is typically very tolerable for most patients. Because this treatment requires just small incisions, most people experience minimal downtime. Results will start to become visible immediately and will continue to improve over the following weeks and months.
Some people experience swelling, bruising, redness, and soreness around the tightened areas. Over-the-counter painkillers should bring relief, and most bruising and swelling should subside within two or three weeks.
You may be given a post-treatment compression garment to aid in the healing process. If so, Dr. Nicole will provide you with instructions on how long to wear this garment.
What Results Can I Expect From Renuvion®?
Cosmetic procedure results vary by individual, and your consultation with Dr. Nicole will help you get a better idea of what you can expect. Many Renuvion® patients experience gradual tightening of their skin (usually over six to nine months) as more collagen is produced.
This procedure leaves very little scarring (if any) due to the tiny incisions.
While Renuvion® cannot replace cosmetic surgery procedures for every patient, it can prolong the need for more invasive treatments for some. When performed on the right patient, skin tightening with Renuvion® can be an alternative to arm lift surgery, tummy tuck surgery, or facelift surgery.
