What Is Cellulite?

Cellulite is a condition in which the surface of the skin appears dimpled. This condition occurs most commonly on the buttocks and thighs of post-pubescent women.

Many people think cellulite is caused by stubborn fat pockets or saggy skin, but this is not true. The telltale dimples that comprise cellulite are actually caused by fibrous bands or septa bands that tether the skin to the superficial fascia, which is a deeper structure that lies beneath the skin and above the muscle. Clusters of these fibers create tension, which results in the appearance of cellulite dimples.

What Is Avéli™?

Avéli™ is a minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite in the thighs and buttocks, providing long-term results. It is one of the first clinical cellulite treatments available that works with a demonstrable knowledge of the female body, targeting the septa underneath the skin that cause dimples.

The Avéli™ device is a long, thin instrument with a tiny retractable blade used to sever the septa bands under the skin. It is also equipped with a laser that allows your provider to locate and release the septa accurately and with precision. Avéli™ delivers clinically proven, long-lasting results.

What Is Avéli™ Treatment Like?

First, a local anesthetic is administered in the treatment area. The Avéli™ device is inserted into the superficial layer of the skin where dimples are located. When the end of the instrument reaches the target area, the small blade is deployed, cutting the septa bands. This is repeated according to the patient’s needs and your provider’s recommendation. After the treatment, stitches or bandages will be placed as needed.

An entire treatment usually takes anywhere from 1- 2 hours, depending on the areas treated and whether it is combined with ATTIVA®to improve laxity and lift the tissues.

What Is Avéli™ Recovery Like?

You will likely feel tenderness in the treatment area for a few days up to a few weeks. Bruising and swelling are common and should subside on their own within a few weeks. Expect to avoid strenuous activity or exercise in the first few days or weeks following the procedure.

What Results Can I Expect With Avéli™?

After swelling and bruising subside, you should notice immediate results, including smoother skin with fewer depressions. Severed septa bands do not grow back, which makes this procedure long-lasting.

Can I Combine Avéli™ With Other Treatments?

Because Avéli™ only treats mild to moderate cellulite due to fibrous bands, additional treatments may be recommended depending on your level of cellulite and aesthetic goals. At Institute For Beauty, we recommend combining Avéli™ with ATTIVA® for optimal results.

ATTIVA® RF

If your cellulite is accompanied by skin laxity and sagging, ATTIVA® may be for you. This radiofrequency treatment uses heat energy to boost the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. This helps treat cellulite by smoothing out and firming up the skin over time.

Combining the two minimally invasive treatments can help you achieve skin that is smoother and firmer on your thighs and buttocks.

How Much Does Avéli™ Cost?

The exact cost of Avéli™ Cellulite Treatment will depend on your goals and starting point. We can provide you with further pricing details at the time of your consultation.
