Once the numbing cream has taken effect, the Plasma IQ™ pen device is brought close to the skin to deliver a targeted microbeam of plasma energy, causing sublimation of the epidermis of the skin.
This process and the micro-injuries sustained stimulate fibroblast cellular activity to regenerate cells and promote collagen production, which causes the skin to pull together for additional tightening, lifting, and resurfacing.
With a high degree of device precision and controlled energy settings, the procedure allows for safe and effective treatments for multiple areas without the risk of damage to the surrounding skin. The procedure can take anywhere between 60 to 90 minutes, depending on the scope and condition of the treatment area.
What Is the Recovery Like?
Considering no incisions or general anesthetics are involved, your treatment will involve a short recovery time and none of the complications associated with surgical interventions. However, there is some downtime, similar to a laser resurfacing recovery.
Immediately after treatment, you may experience slight swelling and redness around the treated area, but this should diminish as recovery progresses. Tiny scabbing will form and should be kept dry until it naturally falls off ( within four to seven days). Patients are able to resume normal activities with marginal social downtime.
